"Change happens through movement, and movement heals." – Joseph Pilates

At 19, I fell asleep at the wheel, crashing head-on into a telephone pole. My feet were trapped under the dashboard, fractured in multiple places. Surgery and hardware were required to put my ankle back together, but what I didn’t realize then was how much that moment would change the course of my life.
Dance was everything to me. My greatest passion. And when I was faced with the challenge of rebuilding my body, I never considered a career change. The moment I was out of my wheelchair, I stood at my kitchen counter, using it as a makeshift ballet barre, trying to move feet that felt like blocks of wood. The pain was excruciating, but little by little, I regained strength. I returned to dance and pursued a degree in modern dance, pushing through every class despite the pain.
That’s when I met Karen Clippinger, a dance kinesiologist who introduced me to Pilates, anatomy, and kinesiology. She taught me how movement could heal, strengthen, and rebalance the body. Under her guidance, I discovered a new way to move—one that didn’t just allow me to dance again but helped me dance professionally well into my late 30s.
In 2017, we opened AURA Pilates as a space dedicated to traditional, high-quality Pilates instruction. It has since grown into a community of movers, healers, and wellness seekers, all coming together to experience the profound benefits of this practice. Whether you're healing from injury, looking to build strength, or simply seeking a deeper connection to movement.
More than anything, I just wanted to help people feel better in their bodies—to move with ease, strength, and confidence. This journey started with my own recovery, but now, it's about empowering others to move, heal, and thrive. I’m honored to share this practice with you and welcome you to experience the AURA difference.
